Nautiz X8 Twin Battery Charger

From PCB layout and mechanical fit reviews to design revisions, sample approval and PCBA production introduction: Magnus’s engineering support in collaboration with the customer and project teams.

From charging requirements to a production-ready electronic module

The Nautiz X8 Twin Battery Charger (NX8-1042) is a desktop accessory that charges two batteries for the Handheld Nautiz X8. Working with the customer and project teams, Magnus provided electronics design support, PCB layout, mechanical fit coordination and PCBA production introduction.

Engineering work during development

The electronics had to fit the enclosure, battery positions and indicator-light arrangement. Magnus revised the PCB outline and LED positions and corrected the current return path as part of the electronics and mechanical fit review.

  • PCB layout and outline revisions: Component placement followed board-outline and height constraints, including a revision to a T-shaped board.
  • LED positioning: Indicator locations on the PCB were adjusted to match the enclosure.
  • Current return path: The return path was revised during the design iteration before fit confirmation.
  • Metal base and feet: Mechanical arrangements were reviewed for their potential effect on electronics testing and verification.

Design visuals and mechanical coordination

These project development renderings illustrate how the electronic module was coordinated with the overall product. Some details differ from the final physical product.

Connecting sample review with production

  1. Requirements review: Review electronics requirements, verification items and the development schedule.
  2. Design iteration: Align PCB layout, board outline, LED positions and mechanical fit before prototyping.
  3. Production preparation: Coordinate material readiness, line scheduling and revision control, with DVT sample approval as a production prerequisite.
  4. Production introduction: Prepare stencils, carriers and test fixtures, and coordinate PCBA production with downstream assembly and testing activities.

Capabilities demonstrated

A custom charger requires more than a circuit: battery interfaces, PCB placement, mechanical constraints and production conditions must work together. This project demonstrates Magnus’s practical experience in electronics development, cross-disciplinary coordination and PCBA production introduction.
