JD Sound developed the portable speaker OVO, designed for smooth multimedia playback with high sound quality and low latency through direct USB connection. As a new-concept multimedia speaker, OVO not only required outstanding audio performance but also stylish and eye-catching product design.

Acting in the role of electronic manufacturing services (EMS), Magnus supported the OVO speaker in the following areas:
● Plastic injection molding → produced seven different color casings to enhance durability and premium appearance.
● PCB design and PCB assembly (PCBA) → ensured stable circuit performance and optimized sound quality.
With Magnus providing ODM manufacturing support alongside exterior design, mechanical design, and circuit board engineering, the client was able to focus on software and interactive experience optimization while ensuring rapid mass production of the hardware.
Project Outcome
JD Sound successfully launched the OVO speaker on a crowdfunding platform, attracting 7,500 backers and raising 940 million yen. Combined with the results of the previous product “GODJ Plus,” the total exceeded 1.5 billion yen, setting a new record on Japanese crowdfunding platforms.
This project demonstrated Magnus’s integrated expertise in contract manufacturing and consumer electronics manufacturing, making it a representative case of OEM/ODM collaboration in the consumer electronics sector.
